
Dr. Praveen Gounder
Haematologist
Dr Praveen Gounder is a specialist haematologist committed to providing compassionate, patient-centred care. Having trained in Sydney and the prestigious University College London Hospital, he has a special clinical and research interest in blood cancers, blood clots and blood disorders of pregnancy.
Dr Gounder received his MBBS from the University of New South Wales in 2013. He completed his specialist training across 3 major Sydney teaching hospitals, including Concord Repatriation General Hospital, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and Liverpool Hospital. He was awarded fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia in 2021.
Following a year of work as a specialist Haematologist at Concord Hospital, he travelled to London in 2023 to complete postgraduate fellowship training in Thrombotic Thrombocytopaenic Purpura (TTP) and related disorders. He is currently completing further training as an Obstetric Physician, and has trained under Prof Annemarie Hennessy and Prof David Williams in Sydney and London, respectively. He continues to conduct and publish research, with a view to improving our understanding of blood disorders.
