Dr. Anupriya Agarwal
Medical Oncologist
Dr Anupriya Agarwal is a Medical Oncologist with appointments at the Prince of Wales Private Hospital and the Mater Hospital. She is a Medical Advisor at Cancer Australia and provides strategic input and advice into health policy and programs such as the Australian Cancer Plan. She has special clinical interest in managing breast cancer, gastrointestinal malignancies and supportive care.
Dr Agarwal received her MBBS degree from the University of Adelaide in 2008. She completed her junior medical training at Westmead Hospital and received her basic physician training at Concord Hospital and Nepean Hospital networks. She completed her specialisation with advanced training in medical oncology at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital/Chris O’Brien Lifehouse and Concord Hospital. She has completed a PhD from the University of Sydney exploring patient-physician communication of costs in cancer care, and is an active member of national committees investigating the financial impact of cancer care. She has multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals and continues be an active research fellow at the NHMRC Clinical Trials Centre.
She is a member of the Oncology Drugs Working Group subcommittee of MOGA (Medical Oncology Group of Australia) and participates in pharmaceutical drug approvals and drug roundtables with PBAC and Medicines Australia. She holds a Clinical Lecturer position at the University of Sydney and participates in medical student teaching. She is committed to supervision and mentoring of postgraduate medical education. She is a faculty member of the Basic Sciences in Oncology Course (BSOC) for teaching of medical oncology advanced trainees.
